Louise started her music career as one quarter of Eternal, the UK’s biggest selling R&B girl group of all time. They took the 90s by storm, selling over a million copies of their debut album ‘Always and Forever’ in the UK and becoming the first girl band to ever sell a million copies of an album. The girls remain the only girl band to ever be nominated for Best British Album at the Brits back in 1995.
In 1995, Louise moved on to an incredibly successful solo career with her first album, ‘Naked’. A huge smash-hit selling 1 million copies, Naked spawned five top 20 singles: ‘Light Of My Life’, ‘In Walked Love’, ‘Undivided Love’, ‘One Kiss From Heaven’ and the title track ‘Naked’ all contributing to the album’s classic status.
In 1997 Louise released her second platinum-selling solo album, ‘Woman In Me’ which gave Louise 3 further Top 10 singles, ‘Arms Around The World’, ‘Let’s Go Round Again’ and ‘All That Matters’. The album also saw Louise set off on her first UK tour, playing over 20 sell-out venues across the country including a truly amazing gig at Wembley Arena.
The following year, Louise found herself cutting her honeymoon short to perform in front of 100,000 screaming fans and His Royal Highness Prince Charles at Capital FM’s Party In The Park. By 1998, Louise had become an accomplished solo artist enjoying two successful albums, being a regular feature in the UK singles charts and gracing the covers of every magazine from Smash Hits through to GQ and Tatler.
After a short break from recording, she co-wrote and released ‘Elbow Beach’ in 2000. The first track from the album was ’2 Faced’ which enjoyed massive airplay across the country and provided Louise with her biggest selling single to date, entering the chart at No.3. Elbow Beach also featured the Wu-Tan-Clan-sampled ‘Beautiful Inside’.
In 2001, Louise worked on her Greatest Hits collection ‘Changing Faces – The Best Of Louise’, which was released that September. The album was supported by the No.4 hit single ‘Stuck In The Middle With You’, a cover of the classic track which was immortalised by the Quentin Tarantino film Reservoir Dogs. The single went on to be a commercial and critical success and the album’s impact was further bolstered by Louise’s second solo tour, which saw her performing at 36 packed venues across the UK.
Clocking up her 12th consecutive hit, ‘Pandora’s Kiss’ was released in 2003. Entering the charts at No.5, the single was released to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. To date, Louise has sold over 5 million records in the UK alone and over 15 million records worldwide.
After 15 years out of the industry, in 2017, Louise returned to where she knows best – being on stage. Her return saw an incredible performance at Under The Bridge with a 7-piece band which sold-out in under 3 minutes. Following this, her love for performing was sparked again and she took her Intimate & Live show on the road in January 2018 which saw shows in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow all selling out.
Once the tour was over, it was time to get back into the studio to start creating the first new Louise music in over 15 years. Louise signed a global publishing deal with Warner Chappell to get this process started and she spent 2018 writing and recording in London, Sweden and Los Angeles.
Summer of 2018 also saw Louise perform up and down the country at different festivals including Isle of Wight festival, Manchester Pride and supporting Britney Spears at Brighton Pride.
In 2019, Louise continued her passion for singing and dancing on stage in a different form – on the West End! Louise joined the cast of Dolly Parton’s 9-5 The Musical as the lead role of Violet Newstead for its debut in The Savoy Theatre in the West End.
Alongside her run in the show, in February 2019 Louise signed a worldwide recording deal with Warner Music and continued her work on her album. At the same time as the new album announcement, the first single ‘Stretch’ was released on 26th March 2019 which was extremely well received both by critics and the public and was added to the B List at Radio 2 for 4 consecutive weeks.
The follow-up single, Lead Me On was released on 4th July 2019, co-written and produced by Jack Patterson of Clean Bandit. It’s a storming summer anthem in the making, full of Caribbean riffs and house pop piano with a gorgeous summer feel-good video shot in Lisbon to go alongside that’s bound to get you up and dancing. With a recent add to Radio 2’s A List, Lead Me On is set to be the song of the summer.
